E-Coli At Costco Is More Dangerous

The strain of e-coli linked to Costco and in particular, the chicken salad that made 19 people ill in several states throughout the US is said to more life-threatening than the outbreak that was tied to the Chipotle restaurant chain. 

People are being urged to who bought any chicken salad in any store to throw it away, even if no one has been sick. This will certainly cause some concerns with thousands of people throughout the USA. 

It was reported the strain known as Shiga-toxin producing E-coli can be life threatening. Todate no deaths have been reported but five people have been hospitalized and two individuals have developed kidney failure according to a source at the Disease Control and Prevention Unit.

A call to Costco headquarters in Washington state seeking comment was not immediately returned.

Seattle attorney Bill Marler, who is representing people sickened in the Chipotle outbreak, said the problem appears serious because two people have developed kidney failure. People were hospitalized in the Chipotle outbreak, but no one developed kidney failure.

Marler said the new case shows why food safety is so crucial.

“Costco has always been a leader in food safety at retail, it just goes to show you how important controlling your supply chain is,” Marler said.

Symptoms Of E-Coli Infection

There are many symptoms of E-Coli Infection and it must be noted that some symptoms may be similar to other conditions. It is therefore important to not panic and seek help from a medical practitioner or an alternative therapy doctor.

Symptoms include diarrhea, abdominal cramps, nausea and vomiting. The best way to speed up the healing process is to drink plenty fluids and be aware that you may not see symptoms for a few days.
